Accommodation

Lonsdale has mostly ensuite rooms with a smaller number of shared bathroom facilities rooms. Our accommodation blocks are Houses 2 and 3 (bedrooms with shared bathrooms) and Houses 32 to 45 (bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms). Lonsdale is also one of the colleges which offers catered accommodation.

Our accommodation blocks are nestled around the Lonsdale building which is the heart of our community. We’re close to Cartmel and Graduate Colleges too so this part of campus feels like a village in itself.

Lonsdale Hub

Lonsdale Hub is a relaxed social space where students can unwind and spend time together. It offers match-quality pool tables, table tennis, darts, and a football table, with equipment available from the Porters.

The Hub is used for events throughout the year and is open to all students, making it an easy place to drop in, have a game, or take a break between commitments.

Community Kitchen

Lonsdale Community Kitchen is a welcoming space for students and staff to relax, cook, and catch up with others. Fully equipped with all the kitchen essentials, it’s the perfect place to prepare a quick meal, share food with friends, or take a well-earned break during the day.

Study Room

Located upstairs above the college foyer, Lonsdale Study Room is open to all Lonsdale students. The room offers study booths, tables and computers, with the adjacent Computer Room providing easy access to printing facilities.

The Snug

Lonsdale’s cosy cinema room and chill-out space. Whether you’re watching a film, playing on the Nintendo Switch, or just hanging out with friends, The Snug is the perfect place to switch off and relax.

Computer Room

The computer room is situated on the first floor of Lonsdale House (B02) with priority for Lonsdale students. The , the Learning Zone, and are all available for you to use free of charge, with many facilities open 24/7 during term time.

The Nook

A bright and creative space filled with board games, jigsaw puzzles, crafts, and a cosy reading corner. Popular for society events, JCR activities, and college craft sessions, The Nook is a welcoming place to get creative, connect with others, and unwind.

Locker Hire

Students who do not live on campus can hire a locker for the duration of the academic year, useful for storing belongings that you don’t want to carry with you all day. Lockers are limited and are available on a first come first served basis. To obtain an off-campus locker, see Olivia, College Manager in the College Office A09 (£10 deposit payable).

Mail

All parcels and mail are collected from the Porters/ Porters' lodge.

You will receive an email (via your University email account) from 'Parcel Tracker' when the College Porter processes any parcels or valuable letters in your name; present the QR code to the Porter in order to take the receipt.

Other letters will be placed in the alphabetised mailbox in the Porters' foyer (via first letter of your surname); please check your mailbox regularly.

Any uncollected parcels are returned to the University central post room after 5 days and mailbox letters after 10 days.
