Research Interests

My PhD project aims to investigate how language is used to represent homelessness in the British press over 15 years (2010-2024). Employing a corpus-assisted approach to critical discourse analysis, my research will focus on linguistic choices which could contribute to and reduce stigma surrounding those with experiences of homelessness, and explore variations in such representations according to newspapers. In collaboration with homeless charities, this project encompasses the development of media guidelines to report on homelessness in ways that mitigate potential stigmatisation.
