Security in a New World (Dis) Order Workshop
Security Lancaster recently held its first research workshop on New World (Dis)Order, bringing together around 30 participants from across disciplines to explore how global order is fragmenting and being reshaped.
The discussions examined the changing geopolitics of disorder, including pressures on the rules based international system, the implications of China’s rise, and growing strains in the transatlantic relationship.
Participants also explored technological drivers of disorder, from AI enabled disinformation and AI security to digital identity futures, alongside societal challenges such as polarisation, online subcultures and psychological manipulation. A strong theme throughout the workshop was the need for new interdisciplinary approaches that connect geopolitical, technological and societal levels of analysis. The event helped build momentum around a shared research agenda and laid the foundations for future collaboration and funding activity.
A short report capturing the key discussions and takeaways is available here.
